So you have taken the often difficult (and somewhat scary) step of investing in quality professional business or personal branding photography? Give yourself a pat on the back! This is a huge step in creating an authentic & visually attractive brand, that many business wait far too long to delve into.
But now that you have a set of custom brand images, how can you put them to their full potential use?
Apart from obvious uses like website and social media platforms, there are a lot of clever and more creative ways you can use your branding photos to really stand out. Creative addition of consistent design elements like typography, watermarks or logos, borders, block colour overlays, patterns or shapes, changes up the images you have, giving you more variety and the ability to use the same image multiple times. All these play a role in a WOW visually appealing brand.
Let’s explore the ways in which you can use your branding images for maximum impact:
Social Media Posts
Though to a large part this is pretty self explanatory, using your images in social media posts is a great way to get started. Adding a logo, icon or a watermark that is unique to your brand is a great way to not only protect your images from copyright (to a degree) but also adds an extra layer to your brand’s consistency. Some other ways you can enhance your message consistency within the social media realm is: accompanying links with an image, using a semi-transparent overlay on the image to add text for quotes or announcements or adding the images to your Instagram or Facebook stories.
Cover Photos & Banners
Similarly, adding useful information over the image turns your image into an infographic or banner so it is easy to catch the attention of your clients as they first hit your social media platforms. These can be a great way to work alongside landing pages & adverts, keeping the consistent visual appeal of your brand.
So much time can be spent finding ‘the right’ image for a blog post! Why not use your branded images and some clever Canva (or other design tools) to easily create ‘variations’ of your images. You will never need to look for stock images again & it will save you a lot of time compared to trying to find that perfect ‘stock image’.
Newsletters and Mail-list campaigns
Next time you compose a beautifully worded newsletter for your tribe subscribers, don’t forget to throw in some branded images into the mix! How much easier is it to digest a big chunk of newsletter goodness, then when there are personal branded images dispersed throughout the content. From adding a custom branded header into each of your newsletters, to popping in an image with an overlay of text to advertise your next ‘ big thing’, remember to keep your brand consistency in ALL client interactions.
Adding a little head shot image as part of your email signature is another easy way to use your branded images to develop trust and recognition. You can use a little Canva template to take your favourite headshot image and turn it into a circular one that looks fresh and more aesthetic alongside your logo in your email signature.
Landing Pages & Adverts
Humans are visual creatures, so it shouldn’t come with any surprise that including branded images in adverts and the landing pages associated with those adverts, is great practice! While the copy is important, your branded images are probably even more so. Keeping landing pages (for launches, events, opt-ins, downloadables etc) looking on pointe with the adverts that have drawn a potential client to them in the first place, is a big part of building the initial trust and brand message.
In order to create a compelling impression for those who visit your website, you want to make sure YOUR story is VERY clear to the person visiting your site. I have lost count of how many times I have seen a great product or service on social media and then gone to the webpage to find out more and been completely underwhelmed and confused by what I found. Different images, mismatched colours, inconsistent copy... making it hard to work out what it is that the business actually does.
Digital products & downloads
If you have a business where you offer digital products or create workbooks or e-courses, using branded imagery that is consistent with your brand is paramount in establishing brand trust and customer loyalty (leading to repeat customers and great word of mouth referrals). Nothing gets me more excited then when I see beautifully designed downloadables that match a business’s brand and incorporate custom branded images. You instantly feel more connected with the business as it shows they know exactly WHO they are and WHAT their business stands for.
Workshops, Webinars & Presentations
When compiling material for presentations and workshops, half the battle can be finding the ‘right’ content & copy. However, visually these also need to be eye-catching and pack a punch for impact and consistency. Pop in your headshot or favourite lifestyle portrait into the bio section, create a visually pleasing graphic using your branded images for the title page and sprinkle a few more branded images amongst the copy. Be creative in the way you use your images - crop them, overlay text or block colours, add quotes to them, the list goes on.
Pinterest Pins & Boards
Pinterest is fast becoming one of the biggest platforms for attracting new clients to your website. Just like you can create branded graphics with your images for posts on Insta and Facebook, you can customise board covers that convey the purpose of your business and design pins that look consistent, professional, and on-brand.
There is no doubt that branded images are a powerful way of conveying a consistent message for your brand. With a little of creativity and applying your branded images to EVERY aspect of your brand, you create consistency, build credibility & establish customer connection & trust. If you remember to visually speak to your ideal client with custom branded images (and do it ALL THE TIME), you will be a big step closer to creating an authentic, appealing & trusted brand.
